The Open House - Andersonville Chicago

Project Objective

A complete transformation of an existing two-family residence into a contemporary single-family home. The design reimagines the interior as a cohesive living environment where openness, clarity, and spatial continuity define the experience of home.

Design Intent

Conceived as a sequence of interconnected, light-filled spaces, the home blurs the boundaries between rooms through carefully orchestrated volumes, framed views, and a restrained material palette. Natural light and refined detailing shape an atmosphere that is both calm and expressive, creating a timeless residence where architecture enriches everyday life.

The Borrowed Light Apartment - East Village

Dark ground-level apartment turns into a bright and energized home by using light-colored materials and high output LED lighting. More importantly, we removed most of the walls and replaced them with translucent and clear glass, allowing for both natural light and artificial light to migrate between spaces.

The Sky House - Philadelphia

Breathing new life into a 1920s classic! This modest budget project focuses on maximizing natural light and creating a seamless flow between spaces.  Collaborating closely with a skilled artist/painter, we're transforming this home into a bright and welcoming retreat.  Lighter finishes are complemented by striking dark accent tiles, adding depth and character.  In the efficiently designed kitchen, reflective cabinets enhance the sense of openness and amplify the natural light. The result is a beautifully updated home that honors its history while embracing a modern aesthetic.

The Loop Apartment Greenwich Village NY

The Existing layout and design go back to 1980. two apartment were joined together to create a new home for a young family. 
Design intent: 
Create an open and light spatial experience. Better flow of space across entire apartment - avoid a dead-end in space flow  Scope: Total gut renovation, new kitchen and bathrooms, new windows, new lighting, and new HVAC.

3° Flats

This project reimagines the classic Chicago four-flat as a modern urban residence. Organized as a three-story multifamily building containing four thoughtfully planned dwellings, the design emphasizes clarity of form, generous daylight, and efficient spatial organization. A restrained material palette and carefully proportioned façade establish a contemporary identity while respecting the character of the surrounding streetscape.

Flowhouse - Upper West Side

What began as two small, constrained apartments on the Upper West Side evolved into a single spatial narrative — an exploration of flow, reflection, and human scale. A036’s design redefines compact living through meticulous detailing, strategic layering, and a focus on how light inhabits space. A continuous curved wall and ceiling guide movement through the home, softening transitions and shaping a sense of calm continuity. Every gesture — from the perforated ceiling panels to the art-integrated partitions — transforms boundaries into opportunities, creating a living environment that feels effortless, luminous, and distinctly personal.

Total gut renovation and a pre-war apartment in Brooklyn Heights.  

Beyond Function Kitchen

THE ESSENCE – We believe that essential part of creating a usable friendly space small or large. Is the ability to move and use the space in a most natural way – space as a second nature.

Our attempt is to develop a fabric that will enrich the experience of the interior space, tie function and design elements together to create a sculptural/machine like object that will activated the space and define the nuances of space and time
10’x4’ double sided working island placed parallel to the house exterior wall, cooking activity benefits from new large glass door facing the outdoor, over head floating ceiling with recessed lighting spans across kitchen space to reach the dining table and support pendent lighting fixture.

Materials – Design makes use of LED lighting fixture through-out the project, veneered Apple-ply with exposed edges for the floating ceiling, porcelain floor tiles, galvanized steel plate shelves and IKEA cabinets with quartz surface counter top

Material, form and light come together as one cohesive language creating a narrative staring at the kitchen counter via the dining space to the outdoor deck.

Compact Apartment - Greenwich Village

Total gut renovation of dark 1,000 sf. 
A dark second-floor rear-facing apartment, turning into:
An open and airy welcoming space. The balance between warm and cold finishes, ample illumination, and light wood floors.

Modern Duplex Apartment Gut Renovation - Fort Lee, NJ

Our design intent for this modern apartment gut renovation was to create not just an open floor plan, but a spatial experience rooted in a light. To achieve the balance of the industrial and minimalist aesthetic, we incorporated steel plate shelves and exposed the concrete structure. Vistas of the monochromatic color scheme are highlighted by accent trims to create planes of visual texture and light. Throughout the home, layered whites and minimalist forms beckon.
